Really quaint, romantic room with 4 poster bed and antique furniture. Lovely and warm and en-suite had a bath as well as a shower. Staff very attentive. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Lounge and bar area had beautiful paintings and old beams and copper top bar. Only negative is the £10 a night car parking fee which seems excessive

We stayed as part of a deal. Rooms on the tired side (toilet roll holder off wall, twin beds put together for double of different heights, lacked finishing touches and room in need of redecoration etc) food, over priced for the good quality it was but not exceptional as the prices would suggest, not many options to stay in budget. ( Which was not the same as deal offer) Real ale and staff very good. Lovely location but some rooms close to the busy road with traffic all night.

We visited the hotel and stayed for 2 nights in September 2023. Having booked through a hotel booking site, we had a deal which gave us credit towards food in the restaurant. When we checked in, the receptionist told us this credit was £30 per person, per night. This was confirmed by the restaurant both evenings when we ate there. On checkout, we were presented with a bill which applied only one £30 discount and not the £30 per person we had repeatedly been told we were entitled to. When we questioned this, we were told Reception had made a mistake and had given the wrong information to the restaurant. Despite admitting this was their error, we were offered no compensation other than a tea or coffee. As customers, we were charged almost £90 for the hotel’s own mistake. We expressed our concerns at the unfairness of this, but no member of the management team gave us the courtesy of an explanation or an apology. We wrote a letter to the hotel and the hotel booking company asking for reasons why we were unfairly charged. After 2 months, the hotel has continued to treat us disrespectfully by ignoring our letters. We would never book here again and would advise anyone who does so that the management have proved themselves to be rude and that they show contempt towards their paying customers.

Hotel in a great location, right in the high street. A beautiful hotel but old and a bit tired. Rooms very clean, staff attentive and friendly, food good. Unfortunately the restaurant was cold . However I certainly would return, perhaps in the summer

There is lots to like about the Talbot Inn. The building is hundreds of years old and has bags of charm. There is ample parking and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The room we had was quiet, comfortable and clean but showed a little bit of wear and tear. A leaky shower screen meant that the bathroom floor got very wet. No A/C isn't a problem in October but might have been an issue if we'd been there in summer.

Four of us went to the Talbot hotel for afternoon tea with Prosecco, location beautiful lovely place full of history. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This was not the first time we had been. We had been twice before over the last couple of years and would always give it "Five Stars" for the afternoon tea and Prosecco. The previous two times we had been it was first class and we really enjoyed everything. This year 2023 in June however we noticed that although it was still very nice they had cut back on their fillings in the sandwiches so instead of salmon there was tuna. We were given a very large teapot with one tea bag in it for our tea. The tea was weak and watery no matter how much we tried to squeeze the bag. This did spoil somewhat that feeling of the whole thing being a little indulgent luxury and the occasion that bit special. We asked if it would not be possible to have a better quality tea supplied. To be fair the member of staff serving was so lovely and accommodating. The person serving us took the tea pot away and completely replaced it with a new one, this time with two breakfast tea bags in it. Which was of course much better! Overall we still enjoyed it, the cakes and scones which were warm, were lovely - again though there was those little cut backs from previous visits in that there was not enough cream and jam for the scones. But again we asked for more pointing out the shortage and they were more than happy to oblige so that was very good. The service from the staff was excellent. We are due to go back again soon so we will see if things have improved for the better or worse.

3* max. Basically run by teenagers, however, Nicholas was very nice. Extra £10 a night for parking, extra £10 an hour for late check out. Although we weren't in the part where the heating was broken (the restaurant was, and was FREEZING in there) they hadn't turned on the radiators in our room and it was quite unwelcoming as was so cold. However, the bed was super comfy and the breakfast was delicious.

The experience overall was very positive. Bedrooms very warm in very cold days, venue bar area a little chilly. Bedrooms lacking areas to hang things up. Toilet low volume flush not working. P.s Don't park under the trees!
